Happy Easter!

Image
For many Christians, as myself, my family and relatives, Holy Week is a deeply spiritual and emotional time. It is a time to reflect on the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and to renew our faith. Many churches hold special services and ceremonies during Holy Week, which can be powerful and moving experiences for those who attend live us. During Holy Week, we engage in personal acts of devotion, such as fasting or abstaining from certain foods or activities. This is done as a way of reflecting on the sacrifice that Jesus made for humanity and as a way of deepening one's personal relationship with God. And so, Holy Week is a time for Christians to come together in prayer, reflection, and worship, and to deepen their faith as they prepare to celebrate the joy and hope of Easter. "Try Again" - Jaehyun

Valentine's Day is a holiday that is supposed to be about love and affection, but for me, it is a painful reminder of my brokenness. As a person who has experienced heartbreak and loss, this day feels like a cruel joke, a reminder of all that I have lost and all that I may never have again. I remember the days when I used to look forward to Valentine's Day, when I would eagerly anticipate receiving a card or a gift from someone I cared about. But those days are long gone now. Instead, I am left with a sense of emptiness and longing, a feeling of being incomplete and alone. As I watch others celebrate their love and happiness on this day, I can't help but feel envious and resentful. I know that I should be happy for them, but it is hard when all I can see is what I am missing out on. But as much as Valentine's Day hurts, it also reminds me of the strength that I have gained through my struggles. I have learned that love is not just about finding someone ...

Women's Month

Image
The observance of International Women’s Day (IWD) was a result of the organizing activities of women in the early 20th Century. Between 1909 and 1911, working women in the United States of America participated in organizing strike activities of the National Women’s Trade Union League and other concerned groups. They were protesting against low wages, lack of protective legislation and the very poor working conditions to which women workers were subjected during that time. The demonstrations were an offshoot of the tragic March 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York City, which took the lives of more than 140 working girls, mostly Italian and Jewish immigrants. Subsequently, the inhumane working conditions and other unfair labor practices leading up to the disaster were invoked during observances of IWD. In Europe, Clara Zetkin and the Socialist Women’s International demanded that March 8th be International Women’s Day, celebrated each year to...

"Woah!, Woah!"

I immediately learned a lot of things from that single day of bazaar-ing and I must say, I was such a noob people had no difficulty in haggling with me. To help anyone who would like to know what it’s like to sell products at a bazaar, here are some of the things I immediately took notice of and are definitely in my list of lessons learned. That is, if you don’t mind hearing some of what I have observed as a bazaar first-timer. Theme/ Uniformity What I immediately noticed when we arrived at the bazaar was how uniform or whole the idea and theme of each booth was! I came with a gamut of products that did not all fall into the same category. They had brand new, pre-loved and also imported items. They had clothes to sell. When I looked around me, everyone was either selling just food, just clothes, just beauty products or just fashion accessories. Almost none of the booths around me sold more than one category of item. Don’t Over-Sell, Give Customers...

"You are an experience!"

Finally,  the second quarter of my school year has passed. Means another great memory created, and I'm planning to keep it that way. Although I might not have been that great in my academics, I still learned a lot. So it's safe to say that I still did great xD.   I can't really say anything that happened. In short, nothing really memorable happened to me this past quarter, quarter 2.  Well, maybe the time that my whole bag got contaminated by some unpleasant "thing". It was truly humiliating, disgusting, and infuriating. Although I got through that situation just fine.  To what I have learned is that anyone of us can be a light that brings brightness to someone, no matter of how bright or dim that light may be, it'll grow brighter and brighter as long as you are given the much support and comfort you need. And so I will continue, and be a light to many. Specially to those who are struggling, trying to survive(Wow ha) this past quarter....
